After waking for no obvious reason at 4am and thus having to wear my “old sleeping bag” face to work, I was not happy about spending Saturday evening wrestling with a pumpkin. It skidded off the chopping board and bounced across the living room several times, leaving craters in in its wake before I managed to catch and disembowel it. The rock-like creature has now been transformed into a pot of creamy golden soup, and the grisly dismemberment is but a memory. I am now looking forward to setting about the two exotic purple creatures that are nestling in the bottom of the fridge. Aubergines - an all together more pliant vegetable.
